From June 1-Nov 30, Okinawans watch for Typhoons. Since the vast majority of the buildings on the island were rebuilt after the war, it is made up of an immense amount of concrete. The buildings are made for typhoons, and the almost weekly small earthquakes we experience. We see the resilience of the okinawa people as we watch the typhoons roll through and then just keep on living. It doesn’t seem to phase most of the people here at all! Here are a couple of the pictures we have taken during the three or four typhoons we have seen here.
